Is it bad to be #Likeagirl?

Why is it ok to limit girls at any age? Why is it ok to use 'like a girl' as an insult? Why is it ok to limit a womans potential

I have just watched the Always add campaigns #Likeagirl and it has moved me to tears. Not much makes me cry but this was heart wrenching.

As part of the campaign, Always asked if we limit girls and they said: '72% of girls DO feel society limits them – especially during puberty – a time when their confidence totally plummets'.

Wow.

How does this then impact a womans life? Have you ever felt that you can't achieve something because you were female? Did you just accept that? I think that as women we need to empower each other and stop this ridiculous social bias. You have the right to achieve anything you want because you are a person and you are no less of a person just because you have an awesome set of boobs! I'm not saying that you need to let go of your femininity, that should be fully embraced, but do not allow someone to impose limits on you because of your gender.

I know that society has tried to hold me back. I have been asked why I should be considered for a job because 'I am at peak child-bearing age', I've been asked to go make the tea before a meeting because I was the only girl there. F*ck that! Your expertise and knowledge is worth every penny as the person sitting next to you so do not let 'being a girl' hold you back anymore.

Own the space you are in. Go after your dreams. Be who YOU want to be.
